OSSEIN Issue Studio Update – “'FÜHRER” Nears Completion
OSSEIN Studio Update - 10/14/08
What do you call something that purposefully defies description? How do you
describe an act like this - a forward-thinking, ambient, avant-garde,
electronic, visual art experiment that slowly evolved from tripped-out black
metal and now looks to progress even further into the unknown with their
next project, an ambitious double album whose concept compares moder America to the Third Reich?
"Experimental soundscapes from a black metal perspective," perhaps?
"Noise for art's sake"?
"Myspace Top Experimental Artist (with over 120,000 plays to date)"?
"The Road to Awe," as Metal-Archives described the band's last effort,
Osaka"?
Try all of the above: this is Ossein.
Inspired and influenced by like-minded visionaries Trent Reznor, Sigur Ros,
Burzum, Ulver, Mum, and a variety of Japanese electronic/visual
artists, Ossein has made a hell of an impression on the music scene over the past few years y consistently offering fresh new musical, political, and social
perspectives (as well as free music). Founder and mainman Nile Bowie recently
checked in from the studio to shed some light on the inner workings of
Ossein's upcoming third-full length, a double album entitled FÜHRER:
"Between 2008 and 2009, Ossein will have released three hours and forty
minutes of studio material, for free. It's a demographic I'm personally
pretty proud of. I've spent the last several months recording & trying to
improve my abilities; the sheer element of having a creative outlet in my
life is the most gratifying element of it. *FÜHRER *is shaping up to be far
different than I originally conceptualized, for the better. We've finished
nearly all the instrumental pieces on the album, and I'm going to be
spending the rest of the 2008 composing lyrics and vocal melodies.
The album has musically been almost completely a product of myself & Matt
Noojin, with several different collaborations from my close friends (most
dwarfing me in ability). Unfortunately, Itay Keren (Drummer & Producer of
Declination) seems to have lost interest in this project, and my
friendship. He's a talented guy who has helped shape the way I make music,
but everyone has their own path. Once 2009 rolls around, I'm going to spend
sometime working in Europe for a few months. Plans for the next three Ossein
releases are in my thoughts, and I look forward to locking myself away and
recording them.
That's all I can really say right now. Keep listening.
