THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT ALBUM #7 ON BILLBOARD HEATSEEKERS CHART
The Airborne Toxic Event's eponymous debut album on indie label Majordomo Records reached #7 on Billboard's Heatseekers upon its first week of release. With five radio stations in their hometown of Los Angeles currently banging their first single "Sometime Around Midnight;" and with another song, "Gasoline," featured on NBC promos for the Olympics; plus a rousing performance on Conan O'Brien, a sold out show at LA's El Rey and finally add to it a cover story in this past Saturday's Los Angeles Times one can see how the new band found itself not only being a top ten Heatseeker, but entering the Trade Magazine's Top 200 with a #188 debut.
The band who was recently named "Artist Of The Day" by Spin.com has even better days to come. This Thursday they will be guests on KROQ's Kevin and Bean Show, and starting September 1 in Cleveland the band will be the main support for the Fratellis.
The Airborne Toxic Event success is a modern day music industry story. Prior to having management, label, or publicist, the band's "Sometime Around Midnight" added by both KROQ and Indie 103.1, and ended up being one of the most requested songs on both stations. Eschewing the major labels who came calling with contract in hand after the early radio success the band signed with Majordomo because of the artistic freedom the label guaranteed.
